Reach For The Stars Summer School

We will be creating an astronaut training programme (featuring actual footage and demonstrations from Astrophysicists!) BBC Micro:bits will be used alongside a series of asynchronous video resources and step-by-step instructions, designed by experienced Computer Science Teachers. ​ We will have five activities to help any budding astronaut to get in shape: Complete the form below to register interest!

  • 100% of children who attended the 2022 camp would recommend this to others

  • 100% of children who attended the 2022 camp said they would like to return for another summer school

  • Before the camp 0% of children described their coding skills as a 4 (on a scale of 1-4), after the camp 100% of children described their coding skills as a 4 ​

  • For children in Years 5 and 6 from Swindon & Reading Primary Schools

  • Led by local Computing teacher and all volunteers are DBS checked

  • No coding experience needed

  • The Summer School will take place on the 26th and 27th July 2023

  • It will be held at Rutherford Appleton Laboratories 10am until 3pm (Parents can arrive at 2:30 for celebration events each day)

  • Lunch provided

  • Working space for parents with WiFi and refreshments
