Time & Location

08 Feb 2027, 09:00 – 16:00

Science Oxford Centre, Douglas Downes Cl, Quarry Rd, Headington, Oxford OX3 8SB, UK

About the event

Build your confidence in teaching Computing at KS3 with this Introduction to Programming with Python event, designed especially for teachers without a specialist background in the subject.

Explore the fundamentals of programming with Python, including input and output, variables, calculations, data types, selection, lists, for loops, while loops and file handling. Through practical examples, including a chatbot and a carbon footprint calculator, we’ll consider how to teach these concepts, address common student misconceptions and explain why they are important.

This session can be booked individually and is also part of a two-day Computing professional development programme. Teachers are welcome to book this day alone or attend both sessions to develop their confidence across Hardware & Networking and Programming with Python. Hardware & Networking event at Science Oxford is on 22nd February.
