EcoCode - Penguin Feet

Penguin feet focuses on how the natural world can provide inspiration for scientific solutions in other environments, particularly for energy efficiency.  The core concept is inspired by the penguin's unique circulatory system, which allows it to maintain a good body temperature while standing on ice. Students will learn that penguins keep their feet from freezing.  A survival simulator is coded using a micro:bit, which involves creating and testing a core temperature simulator, an activity simulator, and finally, a full survival simulator that incorporates the penguin's artery-shrinking ability. 

Core programming constructs are covered, including sequence, selection and variables as well as maknig use of the micro:bit accelerometer.
