About the event

Elan is the first new programming language designed specifically for teaching in British schools since BBC Basic in 1981. The language and resources are all free.  Though radical in some respects, you will find it surprisingly familiar in many others. As the name suggests, Elan actively encourages good design and coding practices from the outset. Richard Pawson, principal architect of Elan, will demonstrate how.   (You are welcome just to listen, watch, and ask questions, but if you have a large screen or a separate laptop you can work through examples in parallel with Richard - no prior install needed. If you teach A-level, please consider also signing up for the 'Snake 3 ways!' workshop.)
